As plans for the 2011 Real Mas Celebrations continue to intensify, the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC) held yet another press conference on Wednesday January 26th, 2011 to update the public on the latest developments regarding this year’s carnival celebrations. Among the many persons who address the press conference was Paul Toulon
of A&P Solutions and Digital Designs who said that despite
torrential rain they are making tremendous strides in enhancing the
Pottersville Savannah which is commonly referred to as Carnival City.
A&P Solutions has been charged with the responsibility of creating a
carnival-like atmosphere at the venue which will be the host of many if
not all of the various carnival activities.
The Dominica Festivals Committee has also collaborated with Clint H and
Reality Stepperz Entertainment in staging of two major events, one of
which is the Dimanche Gras Waylaylay.
Artistic Director of Reality Stepperz Entertainment Henry Tyson says
the Dimanche Gras Waylaylay which will begin at 3:00pm on carnival
Sunday and culminate at 3:00am will go straight into the 2011 j’ouvert
celebrations. Meanwhile, Soca artist Clint H says plans are well underway for the 2011 Soca Monarch Competition and International Bouyon Night.
The Soca Monarch Competition and International Bouyon Night will be held on Friday February 25th instead of Saturday February 26th, 2011 as has been previously announced.
The deadline for registration is this Friday January 28th, 2011 and artists can register for both the groovy and power segment of the competition. Meantime, Chairman of the Carnival Development Committee Mr. Alwin Bully says after the 2011 Real Mas celebrations they will be looking at the prospects of the formation of a Soca/bouyon association. |
